Depression Resources

In addition to the local resources we provide, we are also going to make available some of the depression resources we have used, shared and developed over the years. Please be patient with us — many of the older resources now need updating and so we will be adding these gradually over time. So watch this space for our resources on coping with stress, bereavement, meditation and mindfulness, new depression treatments, and coping with suicidal ideation.  We updated and covered sleep resources this year, so this will be the first one included here! Comments and feedback very much welcomed — if you see anything that is incorrect, or want to suggest additions to the lists,  please do!

Sleep resources
This is a useful resource for many depression sufferers who also suffer from insomnia.  Disrupted sleep patterns are very common in depression and can exacerbate the anxiety that often accompanies depression. This resource includes podcasts, films, books, NHS resources, some useful apps and UK organizations that offer support.

Mindfulness and Relaxation Resources
Here are some resources on how mindfulness and guided relaxation can help us cope with depression and anxiety, although we also point out that for a very small number of people, mindfulness can actually make depression and anxiety worse. In these cases, relaxation may be more helpful.
